The Face of New £50 Banknote: Think Resist!

IMG_2003.PNG

The news appeared on November 27, 2018: So, the Bank of England has been considering Alexander Graham Bell’s face on paper money for his contribution to “science”—someone who was two-faced gaslighter as I found interesting the definition of “gaslighter”—When a gaslighter thinks that they are not the problem and everyone else is, this is called having an ego-syntonic personality. (Jan 30, 2017: psychology today.com)

Alexander Graham Bell thinks he is not the problem, but thinks Deaf people are the problem. He is the poster child of gaslighter. “Science”—from the dictionary: the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.

Whether Bank of England considered his name, because of his idea to create telephone that changed the face of humans, but there is another hidden science what Alexander Graham Bell has contributed to use Deaf children as lab experiment. It was a tradition of genocide.

If the Bank of England has chosen Alexander Graham Bell as the top choice, people who would carry paper money with his face around in the pocket, wallet, coat, purse, whatever it is, to remind those people that it is OK to allow Deaf-hating ideologist, with the ultimate goal of eradicating Deaf people in the name of hate crime is the greatest threat to Deaf people’s democracy.

We need to remind ourselves two quotes by the world’s leading eugenicist of the Deaf people:

“The main object of the education of the deaf is to fit them to live in the world of a hearing-speaking people.”

“We should try ourselves to forget that they are deaf. We should try to teach to forget that they are deaf.”

Power hunger or power struggle? As the Deaf community enter the global phrase of being under-privileged, it becomes obvious that the money is the root of evil. The paper money of AGBell’s face oppressing of the most invisible minority are dangerous, requiring a huge commitment of cultural appropriation to accomplish their renewal and rebuilt AGBell’s fame.

The power of money is complicated by the cycle of oppression constitute consciousness of Deaf people whose lives is limited—denying them the passion. Unfortunately, there is no unique passion that gives the Deaf community break from money-free oppression. Every day, Deaf people are being targeted for big money and character assassination.

Deaf people’s lives are in the danger of cultural appropriation, and that would be undesirable for everyone. It is necessary to fight against hatred practices by Alexander Graham Bell’s ideology that is infectious enough to warrant a protest by members of Deaf community. In this case, hatred will survive because of survival itself and not only because it has been influenced by stories. The goal of creating activism is not to allow Alexander Graham Bell’s face on the paper money, the first kind in the world, and challenge the practices of hate speech.

Truth itself can be revolutionary topic in a society steeped in hearing privileges that makes necessary to take respect away from Deaf people. The society we live in, Alexander Graham Bell is pushing for Surdophobia culture, ‘the fear of Deaf people’ not just because it was deemed cultural hegemony in the eyes of Deaf people but also the ignorance and lack of cultural respect cannot be “un-done”—Deaf people are human beings—they are not human doings.

The awareness of Deaf culture has been grossly neglected in the society, and it is deteriorating. It has nothing to do with right or left really, but the powerful knowledge about Deaf people has skewed for profit and not for facts.

The final question, Is the face of Alexander Graham Bell on paper money, need any more arrogance, the leadership that exploits Deaf children with the lies as they make “deficit-thinking” decisions on those facts and not only on the emotionalized, oppressive of Deaf community and the misinformed public sentiment? Will Bank of England print this image on banknote (paper money bill) like this one below?

Resistance Is Good!

screen-shot-2017-01-15-at-10-46-55-am.png

After receiving an e-mail from an Executive Director for Our Revolution Team an hour ago, they stated,

“Last week, you made over 10,000 calls and logged 40,000 minutes on the phones asking Senators to use the full 30 hours of debate time in opposition to Trump’s unqualified cabinet nominees–and they listened. Right now, Senate Democrats are holding the floor for 24 hours and all through the night to oppose Betsy DeVos’s confirmation to Secretary of Education. The vote count in the Senate currently stands at a 50/50 tie. Not only is DeVos shockingly unqualified–her record of gutting funding from public schools and colluding with for-profit charter school CEOs risks the future of public education….”

We must continue to resist! We know that how the resistance works. In public education schools, bookstores, libraries, homes, any public places that are resisting Betsy DeVos–that is because resistance takes place in the passive voice. This is the time we need to talk about DeVos–the worst unqualified cabinet nominee in the history–never in our life-time that we all would see something like this.

Resistance helps clear a space to relate the truth about DeVos’s lack of experience so we might better understand the present and navigate the future. As one means to support public education, it gives us the chance to continue to resist that have been forgotten, hidden, distorted, or mislaid. Again, the very notion of resistance is necessary for us not to allow DeVos to take the top position.

The purpose of resistance we all need to understand that we are doing is healthy. With no experience and ignorance what DeVos bring on the table, her wealth even her wealth friends that created helped bankroll its political power status to shut down public education in America is not accepted.

In fact, one of the things we all need to admire the idea of resistance is its embrace for change. It teaches us to look to the work we can do on ourselves–repair, maintain, build and grow so we can better deal with change that is certain to come. A book, The Servant Leader Within: A Transformative Path written by Robert Greenleaf:

In education, servant-leadership has lead to new pedagogy, new learning, and new organizations devoted to its practice. In all its applications, servant-leadership achieves what is apparently impossible: bringing transformative experiences to the realm of the ordinary, to the everyday events that, cumulatively, define our lives and shape our experiences.”

Will Betsy DeVos ever understand the servant-leadership style? That is why DeVos is not qualified to take the top position in the Department of Education. We must continue to resist! That is why resistance is GOOD!

Oralism Stole My Father’s Baby

Image

Resistance

-Permission granted by David Call-

[The image above explains that David Call as a young child with “Eye Hand” head to symbolize my natural instinct to be a person of eyes and hands. One of my hands got strapped and locked on the table but I continue to resist oral speech lesson by using my free hand with a hammer to smash the wind-up oral chattering teeth toy.

This is a message that some Deaf children today are still trapped in oral classrooms across the country like I once was.]

When my father was 15, he began to save up his money for his prize car, 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454 with 450 HP V-8–a model manufactured by Chevrolet for only 800 dollars. That car was undefeated beating every muscle car in the book. After my father got his license at age of 16, this car became his very first car ever. Easy to remember it!

My father met my mother in high school, and after they set up their first date and he took her in this rare car. My mother was very lucky to ride in his baby! Three years later, they got married. My mom was only 18 when my father was 20 when I was born in the same year President Nixon had resigned.

At age two, I was placed in the Tucker Maxon Oral School. The teachers, speech therapists, and audiologists loved to teach me face-to-face until I lost my dignity. The school was private and very expensive.

My father had to give up his most prized car due to excessive costs of gas—45 miles each was to and from the school. My mother would have to drive me to that school five days a week, and you could easily imagine how expensive the gas it could be! My parents made a wrenching decision to sell the car and bought a 1971 baby yellow Volkswagen bug due to cheaper gas price and for safety reasons, too. My father literally cried about his prize car for years.

At age of four years old, my mother and father had to make a decision to place me into mainstreaming schools, which made it even worse for me. Although It was never my parents’ fault, it was the society that failed to facilitate them.

I survived the hearing-oriented teachers. There were many subjects I wanted to learn but they were never considered important. Oral method of education was always important and it neglected me completely, without love. I felt like a piglet being left out in the mud.

The chief educational goals were to make sure I had mastered speech—listening and speaking. What was more was that the school itself gave me permanent scars with emotional, physical, and intellectual injuries, all at once to make sure I forget my own identity as Deaf being.

Alexander Graham Bell, the Deaf-hating father said that, “We should try ourselves to forget that they are deaf. We should teach them to forget that they are deaf.”

Tucker Maxon Oral School is being watched by Alexander Graham Bell Association (AGB). The school philosophy used “up twinkles” wiggling their fingers in the air that it was in favor of banishing sign language.

One hundred and thirty-three (133) years ago on September 11th, the Congress of Milan changed everything forever that made Deaf people look like puppets. The Congress of Milan also known as Milan Resolution, I believe violates Deaf people’s intellectual lives.

Let me begin my story: I was born into hearing family where 95% in that small town where loggers were. The name of the town, Yacolt, where I grew up means the valley of the demons or the haunted place because it was named for a Native American about three children were on their path to pick out blackberries but they were never seen again. It was believed that evil spirits had taken them.

The same town I lived was full of bias where my childhood life racked up with emotional abandonment and was filled with fear growing up and hating myself due to the fact I am Deaf.

The small town that time was only 500 people which is not known very well for its audistic (Audism-alike) tolerance so infiltrated with those people I had to deal with that I did not realize that I looked down on others unlike me until I moved out and begun my Deafhood journey from there. I had been confused all my life for next 35 years until couple of magic words showed up in my life that changed overnight that made myself a human being. The magic words were: DEAFHOOD and AUDISM.

It shows exactly why the Alexander Graham Bell Association is a hate group and should be abolished. They had been gone virtual lynching, armed with myths they herald as gospel. People who works for AGB chapters are “bad-cats” believing what they want to believe in spite of the facts, so instead of listening to reason, they create an attack site and proclaim it as truth, with hearing-minded hillbillies adding to the mix. The AGB association is poison, those who support it are mentally unstable and in dire need of education. Enough said.

We are living in year 2013. The stats shows that 80% of mainstreamed Deaf children in schools suffer high percentage that scored below the academic achievement than hearing students receive the royal treatment in classrooms. Deaf children will never taste the royal treatment in their lives. If you want the proof to see 80% of Deaf children fail their goals, you can find it in the National Center for Special Education Research. Harassment and bullying against Deaf children are invisibly reported and damaged as well. It is 2013! 2013! 2013!

By the way, that prize car of my father, 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS, would be worth $100,000 at any auction bid today. My father bought that car for $800. Oralism took advantage all of his money.  It is no wonder why my father is still crying for this baby.
