Mirrors of Destruction: Genocide in Deaf Community

holocaust-genocide-studies-clark-university.jpg

After watching Carey Ballard’s ASL video about 10 stages of genocide in Deaf community, it was very good video! Deaf people need to stand up and oppose genocide laws. How many prominent stories would need to criticize the practice of genocide before the courts will listen to us? We all need to remind ourselves that sharing a story is powerful. It starts with you. United States Supreme Court motto: Equal Justice Under Law. We need to study International Court of Justice Seal carefully and examined.

With genocidal practices going around Deaf community in America, the rise of cochlear implants is not even funny, we must continue to resist and believes in empowering Deaf community harmed by cochlear implant companies. We believe in sharing truth to power and it is the merit key to pursuit of happiness. When a former cochlear implant user share their stories to carry their lived experience suffering against this dehumanizing system, the stories will make all the difference.

To resist against the fast-spreading genocide practice—Deaf community need to build an important movement and be strong. I believe in the power of invisible stories. It would bring cochlear implant survivors together to build powerful change of agent whom of them suffers against corruption. We also need to bring up discussions and understand more about the stages of dehumanization, pedagogy of the oppressed, and marginalization. We need to overcome the ignorance and culture of fear about Deaf people.

The hearts and minds of Deaf community do not need to be viewed as weak people and easily targeted for profits. The stage of genocide needs to be challenged in attitudes and beliefs that created fear, oppressing Deaf community directly impacted by the larger, if not, biggest dehumanizing system. MJ Bienvenu wrote, “We need to ask a larger question……why do we need Deaf Studies?” in Bienvenu’s article quoted from ‘Deaf Studies in the Year 2000: New Directions.’ It is indeed a critical thinking question that we all need to set a good leadership for better directions to stop the mass of cochlear implants.

I believe it was written in 1993 or 1994. Now it is 2018, and the surge of cochlear implants is becoming a global genocide. The state of cochlear implants is raking in big cash these days. It is becoming a booming economy that helped push genocide to record high. And….it is only beginning.

The goal of wiping the term, ‘Deaf’ off the face of Mother Earth is a reflection of oppressive and hateful leadership. Cochlear implant companies and the leadership of Alexander Graham Bell Association remains a lying dweller in education rankings, the divide between Deaf people has grown into a different picture.

Deaf babies are being targeted for profits, and I am dismayed how the status quo carries around Deaf people. Cochlear implants are the biggest financial dysfunctions that are hurting the vulnerability of Deaf community in the long run. The treatment of Deaf people is not the only, or even the most grossly neglected injustice flowing from mass of lies.

There are plenty of hate crime, hate speech and biases against Deaf people every day, largely invisible in the biased media that would guarantee stakeholders, ignorant minds, and deficit thinkers to make sure Deaf community shall be oppressed daily is held accountable. The genocide practice also treats Deaf people as forgotten citizens, and it is an injustice that needs to examine by the fact that the majority of oppression to wipe out the term of ‘Deaf’ for the pleasure of advantaged would make them feel safer.

Why is that? Why Equal Justice Under Law? How come Deaf people no longer equal for the roots of justice?

In Response For Nyle DiMarco

maxresdefault.jpg

So, here is first Deaf person to win America’s Next Top Model Cycle 22 and Dancing With The Stars Season 22 and set up his YouTube channel, Nyle DiMarco and let people ask him random questions on February 15, 2017, Were You Bullied For Being Deaf?”

With due all respect for Nyle, that is where the buck has to stop there. Paddy Ladd, the author of Understanding Deaf Culture: In the Search of Deafhood,

Utilising their contacts in the scientific establishment and the media, a public climate has been manufactured which once again again proclaims the advent of the ‘miracle cure’ and suggests once more that ‘deafness is abolished’.” (page 159) and “In the case of cochlear implants, for example, one would expect the trumpeting of such a ‘cure’ to represent a contradiction to our absorbed miracle of the Little Magic Box. ‘If the box works so well, we might ask, ‘then why is such brutally invasive surgery deemed necessary?'” (page 173)

It is exactly a good example of media manipulation when someone asked Nyle a question, “what’s your opinion on cochlear implants in relation to (the lack of) sign language acquisition?” That was un-American question.

I was surprised what his response was. First of all, please remember that I am not against people who are cochlear implant users, but I am against cochlear implants itself. Please remember that.

Nyle signed in 2:10 video, “Well, I have nothing against cochlear implants. I would support whatever a child wants to do whether their parents want to get a cochlear implant. Fine with that I have no say in that matter.”

Do you really believe that a child would say, “I want a cochlear implant” just like that? Remember, in 1989, 12 Deaf children died from cochlear implant surgeries—so do you think a child would say, “I want a cochlear implant and I want to die, too?” Please be realistic! It is the oppressive society (doctors, audiologists, stockholders, politics, corporate dirt bags) that manipulates parents to get their children cochlear implants. Is that not a bullying?

Did Nyle ever read a book called Made to Hear: Cochlear Implants and Raising Deaf Children by Laura Mauldin yet? I do not think so because if he read the book then he would not say, “I would support whatever a child wants to do.” I am telling you that the book would blow your mind away.

51awVqBeVOL._SX322_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

Again, the book is very important for everyone to read and understand the truth. Beware; there are a lot of manipulations by people who are actually against ASL and even the state of being Deaf, too. That is a form of hate.

For example, Alexander Graham Bell Association for Deaf and Hard of Hearing has done very good public relations by manipulating parents into getting cochlear implants.

I am certainly disappointed that people who look up to Nyle as a “celebrity” who gives a wrong impression about it. He was supposed to set a better example and stop lies how special cochlear implant industries are. I mean, he said that he is an activist even he said that he is passionate about language and literacy. Well, did he know that cochlear implants makes it worse and become the subject of language deprivation? Even language delay, too. Cochlear implants does not make better literacy.

It is all about cultural oppression. It is also about the organizing principle of power wherein culture can be studied through technologies of power (cochlear implant industries) and money.

Why not Nyle stand up and challenge cochlear implant industries and make progress, education, conflict, struggle and resistance? For American Sign Language [ASL], it is the truth that attributes to functions, neither economy nor power. ASL creates truth, and this truth produces a function of power.

Cochlear implants has been ongoing ill-advised and misleading term for years and years. No human being can restore anyone’s hearing; Cochlear implants depends a lot on battery economics is a BIG business, yet, it does not restore anyone’s hearing at all. That is reality. It is all about money.

Remember, cochlear implants “profits” over people…is that even an American way of life?

Will Media Listen to Deaf Community?

TRUMP_MEdia_AC_TWIITER.jpg

Since inauguration day, there has been rallies and protests around the world against Trump. It has been crazy weekend in nation’s capital…but wait, it is not over. It’s only beginning. 100 days of resistance will continue to disagree with Trump’s agenda. In fact, the organizers said that they have planned a HUGE Anti-Trump protest again in nation’s capital. The date: April 15th. It was supposed to be really big.

Link:(http://occupydemocrats.com/2017/01/23/organizers-just-set-date-next-huge-anti-trump-protest/)

Although there will be a problem because it is the same day Audism Free America (AFA) is going to host ASL/Deaf Pride to celebrate 200th year in honour of America’s first Deaf education. The last two AFA parades in 2013 and 2015–there has been NONE of media supporting the parade. Not even ONE. The media does not understand the value of respect, especially respecting American Sign Language (ASL). Higher learning and teaching ASL has been always challenging.

Hence, Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing coordinated everything into a blatant lies told to our general society and setting a bad example by creating enormous falsehoods. How can we describe one way which we feel punished and one way in which we feel we punish? The media in nation’s capital is big deal, they will focus a lot more on Anti-Trump protest that day instead of AFA. Why did media did not show any compassion in 2013 and 2015?

Even April 15th has played important history in Deaf community, American School for the Deaf (ASD) opened its doors in 1817, and it is also the day to celebrate National ASL Day. Again, the media thinks it is not important to learn from Deaf people and ASL should be oppressed was beyond my comprehension. We need to bring new light in the ways of thinking about media reprisals as a part of the language and cultural oppression. You know the saying: Once someone is oppressed, he or she learns to become an oppressor.

Even in 2017, Deaf people are still oppressed into nonexistence–the greatest punishment of all. How will we get respect from the media?

For Betty Shelby: Why Deaf People’s Pursuit of Happiness Are Trampled?

betty-shelby-mugshot-1.jpg

Tulsa Police Department employed an officer by the name of Betsy “Betty” Shelby and she is an Audist by heart. She was the one who murdered Terence Crutcher, a Black Deaf fellow in state of Oklahoma. She used “temporarily Deaf” as an excuse to kill Terence. I think the task of describing what “temporarily Deaf” was to defend herself is very offensive and daunting.

After all, Deaf community had spent the greater part of their lives in diverse environments, engaging in relationships with people, truly incorporating our senses, our beings, into the learning experience. We were challenged to discard hearing privileges, and were giving a new learning model: We learned by listening, reading, observing, communicating, exchanging ideas, doing hands on learning, group learning, interdisciplinary learning, to prepare us not for simple “DEAF” what it means, but rather, for LIFELONG LEARNING.

For Betsy Shelby to use hearing privileges, she used it as a textbook answer—a cheap tactic. To simply say, “temporarily Deaf” invites the problematic compulsion of her own lies to take the issues, to strip it, to break it up to its littlest components, and compartmentalize Deaf people in order to make sense of it. If this Audist like Betsy Shelby had taught us nothing else, it has taught us that linear, compartmental thinking of an issue that is complex, global, and interconnected to so many other complex systems and relationships, fails to see the “big picture” that is Deaf awareness.

Perhaps I can only state what I have learned from this Officer Shelby, and the new framework, and new lens of spreading lies with which to view and fundamentally challenge many of previously held beliefs. Truthfully, I held any deeply profound beliefs about my state of being Deaf prior to this lie what Shelby used to defend herself. If anything, I felt truly separate and unique from environment and media, as though we existed separately, and that I occupied a personal space and be proud of my state of being Deaf, and it was MY space to occupy, to control, to conquer.

And, frankly, as long as Audism could sustain me in this lifetime, which was all that truly bothered me the most. Did Betsy give some thought to how her personal lies were damaging to the environment, media, and Deaf community how she contributed to the wasteful misallocation of media lies?

Using “temporarily Deaf” excuse shares many features with traditional forms of harassment, including a clear intent to harm, and the hostile use of power within the context of police brutality. Again, the police brutality, no matter the reasons why, are heartbreaking.

As a Deaf fellow, it is hard to imagine anything worse. Officer Betsy Shelby needs to apologize to the Deaf community for using “DEAF” as an excuse why she murdered Terence Crutcher.

The Daily Moth, Marlee and Nyle: Crisis in Journalism

journalistcurator.jpg

The power of journalism is not the same like it used to be today in Deaf community. Exploring different frameworks of journalism analysis, and learning tools to recognize these frameworks, greatly enhanced my reading of journalism texts related to The Daily Moth. I was previously aware that The Daily Moth and its host Alex Abenchuchan made an inappropriate joke about Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump to use Marlee Matlin in his advertisement and mislead the public to make people think that Marlee supports Trump.

Flash news: Marlee had been a stanch supporter of Hillary Clinton before Nyle DiMarco even existed. There was a tweet that Marlee supports Hillary in the beginning of the year. It means….Marlee supports Hillary ever since.

I am also aware that The Daily Moth that the host, consciously, employed its bad journalism in the school of thought, in the public to educate Deaf community and in his journalistic skills. The Daily Moth allowed to make bad judgements in his own values and predispositions and created a self-deception of how The Daily Moth might have employed these things in his own agenda.

I am a daily viewer of The Daily Moth myself, became baffled not only by the vague, rambling journalism styles of how they treat Marlee but also by the exact mocking intended. As each story progressed, the flaws and bad character traits of American society—especially Deaf community became manifest. Almost everyone can remember a bed time story being read to them when they all are humans. Frequently these works of journalism happen to be myth or fairy tale what The Daily Moth did.

We would pick a bed time story because of its many moral lessons and the positive influence the tale can have on our lives. Sometimes the fable uses negative reinforcement and could help to condition Deaf community by what The Daily Moth scares us. The question, did The Daily Moth shows in a passive manner, how to handle issues ranging from love, respect and vanity to discipline, labor and tact?

Every experience impresses strongly upon a maturing intellect, and fairy tales are simple but powerful in the messages. Journalism provokes us to use these stories to teach Deaf community multiple positive lessons about culture and at the same time attempt to develop a humanity in a practical and positive way. These tales are a vital and important tool and are extremely useful in our upbringing. Fairy tales and myths were originally created to reinforce our current culture and highlight the habits and personality of a developing mind.

The Daily Moth lacked a certain continuity that would have allowed the journalism to flow in logical argument that Marlee was a Trump supporter. The mistake that they did was an overdependence upon the journalism honesty or qualities to convey symbolism. The Daily Moth needs to issue a public apology for Marlee Matlin. Will it even happen?

A Dumb Picture: Not The Real Thing!

Image

I saw a perfect picture yesterday that I would like to share with you. Is America obsessed with listening and speaking?

Alexander Graham Bell (AGB) is dead but Oralism and Cochlear Implant remain alive; Keep saying it. It is the truth the far right that cannot be lied about anymore.

Albert Einstein (1879-1955) once said, “Socialism is man’s attempt to overcome the predatory stage of human development.” Ask then: Why does socialism equals cooperation? Many people only think of the good side of AGB and the media refuses to look under the covers. The real truth about AGB: he had no baggage–obvious to anyone–besides he was the guy who stole telephone patents and invented them. Oh, yes, the same person who loathed Deaf people, in his own famous words about Deaf children that needs to be heard and seen over and over, “We should try ourselves to forget that they are deaf. We should teach them to forget that they are deaf.”

After his death in 1922, we know that AGB had been in over his head and we the Deaf are suffering for it. We own our rights of the state of being Deaf, and we have to claim it back and be in shape. The bottom line is that there are millions of Deaf people who are suffering ostracism which has been tanking again, especially when Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf (AGBAD) takes over in charge.

AGBAD’s plans for Oralism and Cochlear-Implanting Deaf babies is social insecurity and makes Deaf people suffer longer before receiving curtailed benefits.  AGBAD invests billions of dollars in Cochlear Implants and Oralism in market by making sure that both the AGBAD and its sister organization, Oberkotter Foundation, earn the profit of the income. AGBAD and Oberkotter Foundation makes sure to let the floodgates on future Deaf babies to be cochlear-implanted for profits of a lot of money from insurance companies through a voucher system at any cost. They are truly the sharks.

The picture up there is a perfect example of the U.S. Constitution that Deaf people should be protected by First Amendment to have the rights to use American Sign Language and their rights to be Deaf. Why is AGBAD still holding Deaf-center on a degraded legal rights control zone after all these years because the politics of Oralism and Cochlear-Implanting companies fear the media profiteering off the Deaf-centered topics? The AGBAD is a joke if they want to expect to protect the society. The AGBAD is for the solo benefit of those Oralists and Cochlear-Implanting companies running for “election” to use the media profiteers to use the FEAR to destroy Deaf people off the face of Earth. PERIOD.

Conclusion: Historically, AGBAD seems to find a way to throw out the Deaf-signing nor Deaf-centered people under the conditions and it gives AGBAD the power to fix things. AGBAD has been contrasted with the ugly, hateful, negative, I hate Deaf-centered people, and will never show you their returns or tell you the details of their plans because Deaf-centered people do not deserve it at all. AGBAD’s ideologies were both uplifting and inspiring.

The question that we the Deaf need to think in a free society like ours, how far should efforts in public safety go before we are trampled on the very foundations of freedoms and liberties of all Americans? Happy July! The same month that honorable Laurent Clerc passed away 144 years ago. Never mind the Bill of Rights was adopted by the Congress.
