Challenging Audism in Higher Education

When a Deaf individual deny that Audism and oppression is happening at Illinois School for the Deaf that results in a failure to comprehend social responsibility to stand up against Audism. Never been Cued Speech been mired in so many conflicts of interest. Or one surrounded by so many questionable characters. And, until Audism occurred, it is not the same and no Deaf student shall never face a full-frontal attack on their most cherished democratic values: American Sign Language (ASL). That is the step of a language hegemony.

This is not the America we know and love. Alexander Graham Bell-controlled Deaf Illinois—ideologically extremist, anti-ASL, insensitive to Deaf community, and hostage to Oralism—is a danger to their democracy.

Beginning with the ISD administration, the oppressors have been focused on establishing one-language rule—their own rules or face punishment. Now, thanks to in part to oppression restricting and ASL suppression, hate speech, the lies, and distortions of Oralism ideology, combined with the matrix of oppression that has lost touch with its base, they may think they’ve achieved. Wrong.

ASL means for the freedom of speech. It is their idea of democracy. It is an affront to everything ASL stands for. There is the language oppression pushing for the hate and opportunism wooing from Oralism and this Cued Speech practices. It is time to uncover the corruption, back-room deals, and Oralism greed that we need to know to resist Audism and oppression.

When a Deaf person witness and ignore Audism and oppression, we let the person know that our fearless concerns to carry social responsibility and stand up against hate speech and the corrupt oppressors of bullies like hearing supremacy. The idea of driving extreme oppression was an early warning signal that marked a new direction in Illinois Deaf community.

The truth is, Deaf community in Illinois is fighting an uphill battle to save their freedom of speech: ASL. Oralism has Alexander Graham Bell’s back, big business, and Cued Speech in its corner. But they have the truth. And that is a force to be reckoned with in these politically oppressive times. Remember Audism Unveiled DVD?

How much of oppression will survive the age of Illinois School of the Deaf? Why is oppression spying on Deaf community? Why did the administration elect Cued Speech in the first place? Can ASL survive oppressive climate? Can ASL help Illinois School for the Deaf face its brutal past? Is it possible for Illinois School for the Deaf devastated by Cued Speech to be brought back to life?

When a Deaf individual denying Audism, oppression and hate speech, the greatest strength against the corruption of Oralism is knowledge.

The Rising Tide of EPHPHATHA

David Call’s Ephphatha. EPHPHATHA! EPHPHATHAAAA! 2017.

After writing countless blogs about EPHPHATHA for years, I realized that it is also part of hate speech. “Excuse me? What did you say?” Yes, hate speech. The long struggle to give meaning about hate speech has established that freedom of speech and of the press is a fundamental value in American democracy. Do you agree that EPHPHATHA is a paramount value supporting religious bigotry and hate speech at Gallaudet University?

Deaf students have the right to have full protection away from religious violence demanding them that they shall be no longer Deaf is hateful speech. The safeguard of students comes first–not only that, but also the violation of their privacy, too. The case of EPHPHATHA was a ruthless exposure of pursuit of happiness to erase Deaf students’ character. Gallaudet University has no right to publicly scorn, ridicule and contempt as in injuring them at all.

The United States Constitution in the First Amendment, section one, “Freedom of Religion” may be one of the greatest trickery of all time within 14 words, Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press–what does it mean when it comes to EPHPHATHA at Gallaudet University?

Since National Deaf-Mute College created in 1864, EPHPHATHA has been blossomed the invisible mode as a way to connect the world of religious bigotry. But, at the same time, the “welcome” of Deaf students entering into Gallaudet University, has sadly allowed it to become a powerful and virulent problem targeting the pursuit of happiness for Deaf students whom have the right to be Deaf. The word, virulent means a disease of a poison.

The form of hate speech that are directly linked to religious bigotry to create the marginalization and targeting them, to the spread of falsehoods that threaten the generation of Deaf people today and tomorrow. Is that a political polarization, no? Is this a real-world religious bigotry, no? Is it hate speech, no? I could go on…….

PROTECTED CATEGORY= Gallaudet University.

ATTACK=DEAF people.

HATE SPEECH=EPHPHATHA.

EPHPHATHA attempting to make Deaf people hear again, but it is also mocking them–enough! Gallaudet University needs to remove the term of EPHPHATHA–no longer as the gatekeeper of hate speech.

Yes, Deaf Returned Citizen Voted!

Yes, I voted—even as a Deaf returned citizen, I have the rights to vote. I won my rights to vote after I fought for it once I moved to Washington, D.C; translate and interpret for myself. In a true democracy, Deaf returned citizens in order to review the facts and, through a critical discourse, participate in actions and events that will support our conclusions.

I also decided to commit myself to support criminal justice reform for Deaf returned citizens, which was a thrilling experience for me. As it turned out, it has been difficult at the basics of the oppression in the society; however, being a Deaf returned citizen has been troubling for me because I could barely make it there.

As a Deaf returned citizen, how did I reclaim my rights to vote again? Democracy-nothing more than a re-election tools for politicians and yet provides better awareness. What is not generally known by people in general is that Deaf returned citizens had been harshly criticized besides the misdirection given by United States Constitution, I experienced plenty of ugly unintended consequences and understood the humiliation and shame–Top it all of, the laws and their derivatives are unconstitutional in that they violate my 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 14th Amendments to the United States Constitution in my case that has been violated ex post facto, too.

I will not be silenced. Democracy is the most beautiful thing!

A Sad “State” of Being Deaf

Once a baby is born Deaf, he or she is taken totally under the control of the State. It is rather sad to admit that the State is completely oblivious of what being Deaf entails. It often rely on an unjustified illusion that Deaf baby can be made to hear through such high technologies as amplification and cochlear implants (CI).

Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf (AGBAD) has spearheaded a method called Oralism to educate Deaf children to listen only to the sounds, degrading their lives. It has reaffirmed an ideology that Deaf children are in danger of using sign language. AGBAD urges that Deaf children be cochlear implanted, learn how to listen and speak.

Deaf children are just like everybody else. However, AGBAD wants to have them habilitated and rehabilitated through CI or amplification. That is their punishment for being Deaf, their insult to a homogenous society where everyone else can hear and speak. However, Deaf children are normal people who should not be stigmatized by horrible discrimination against their being Deaf.

AGBAD and its sister organization, Oberkotter Foundation are really conservative groups that promote values of Oralism and fight against the Deaf community. Thank you, AGBAD and Oberkotter for attempting to destroy the Deaf. Everything that we the Deaf have worked so hard for do shed our blood for our own history since the 1880 Milan Resolution banning sign language everywhere. We the Deaf must remember that Alexander Graham Bell never attended the Milan Congress in 1880 but sent a telegraph message to let the Congress know that he supported the cardinal rule of using only “speech and listening.”

Those people who are loyal to AGBAD are less evolving than those who are innovative. Modern civilization is built upon cooperation. Those that believe in the philosophy of Oralism, should be rejected and be locked outside the city gates and left to fend for themselves with the other wild animals. Alexander Graham Bell of the United States of America, Samuel Heinicke of Germany, Thomas Braidwood of United Kingdom, Pedro Ponce de Leon of Spain—their vision is to “de-Christianize” the Deaf, to make Oralism more common and available. In the United States, AGB hated anyone who are Deaf because they are successful signing people.

AGBAD does not want to take any chance with the validity of ASL. It is practicing the humility—the segregation—by monitoring communities to make sure Deaf people stop existing. Also, AGBAD does not allow Deaf people to have all of the constitutional rights and freedom. Instead, AGBAD makes sure Deaf people are without credentials, be degraded, and have limited constitutional rights and freedom.

Talking about the constitutional rights and freedom, ask now: Why does the U.S. government allow the abuse by abridging the principles of equality under the law from the Deaf? The U.S. government has decided that democratic values for the Deaf are not applied anyway. They had created two class-like societies: One for normal (hearing) citizens and the other for degraded citizens known as the Deaf as well as people with disabilities. Why? Are Deaf people fallible. They fail. Paul Ricoeur writes: “What is meant by calling man fallible? Essentially this: that the possibility of moral evil is inherent in man’s constitution.” When will this anti-democractic, oppressive crap going to stop?

Deaf people are everywhere in our society. They may be eating next to you, they may be shopping next to you, and they may be standing behind you in the check out lines. But fact is that you should be more worried about those who hate the Deaf because they are the ones who will harm Deaf people’s lives. In a book called Looking Back: A Reader on the History of Deaf Communities and their Sign Languages written by Renate Fischer and Harlan Lane, in page 512, “…..because we, the hearing scholars, must by no means assume the role of evaluating from the outside the achievement or non-achievement of Deaf careers and leave the Deaf alone to overcome oralism. Instead, we intend to contribute to this goal, at the very least by not reproducing socially caused inequality under the banner of science…”

Using this “banner of science,” being Deaf is a biological condition—a very much part of human life. Support the repeal of AGBAD. AGBAD is idealistic and thoughtless. It was wrong of Alexander Graham Bell to attempt to exterminate a Deaf person which was both thoughtless and unthinkable. Finally, and, you, AGBAD, are a miserable bedpan emptier who wishes the State as very sad as you are.
