Alexander Graham Bell 2014 Volta Award winner, Ann Geers of the University of Texas at Dallas makes a damaging article that Deaf children who are cochlear implant users who do not NEED to learn American Sign Language in April 2017 report.

Geers has no right that she thinks ASL is not important or necessary. In fact, a growing body of biased research acknowledged by Alexander Graham Bell Association has shown that the face of hate, bigotry, Audism, and pure evil. This is the face that AGBell looks in Deaf children’s eyes and tells the world that they are going to do about it by eliminating ASL and use listening and speaking instead. This is un-American!

It is completely rubbish that in Geers’ words:

The findings are clear. Children who did not use sign language had better speech and language skills by statistically margins at 36 months postimplant, and these children also developed better spoken-language and reading skills near the end of elementary grades than children who used sign language.”

Karl White is the most ignorant, hidebound and Audist in recent American history is the perfect face of hate. It is time for Karl White to get off his high horse. The self-righteous White stated that despite the fact he supported Geers’s findings. White’s report along with Louis Cooper, ‘Opportunities and Shared Decision-Making to Help Children Who Are Deaf to Communicate’ in June 2017 report that would make your stomach sick.

In fact, Karl White, who now believes that he makes decisions for Deaf children at his own authority—why is ASL subjected to a national disgrace and makes sure Deaf children would live with their now very public humiliation for the rest of their lives if they subject to the rules not to learn ASL or face punishment?

In my opinion, Ann Geers and Karl White brutalized Deaf children again and again—again, again, again—again, again—again. It smacks of Tabloidism! What happened to the legal and moral obligations set out by RESPECT ASL?

We all need to be aware that ASL is a productive member of society, believe it or not. White, Geers and the supporters of Alexander Graham Bell who believes ASL is bad and they need to take a serious look in the mirror because if we as an ASL society cannot move past this then why even try to destroy ASL in the first place? It is pure hate! Enough of placing ASL in national disgrace!

Do Not Give Up, Stand Up, and Read Up!

Starkey Hearing Technologies : For The Thrill of Hate Crime

Well, what a perfect timing! I was not surprised what Starkey Hearing Technologies had been done to exploit Deaf children—for what? Starkey Hearing Technologies has busted in a federal sting yesterday (February 20, 2016). In a Star Tribute quote, “Nov. 17, 2015: Starkey receives letter from federal authorities saying company has been identified as a “possible victim of a crime.”

Wrong! Let’s try to look at reverse psychology. Deaf children who has been exploited by Starkey has been identified as hate crime. Is it not?

HATE= A feeling of aversion or hostility; CRIME= any action that hurts, offends or judges others;

“Sink-or-swim mentality”—Starkey and its all blatant lies told to our general society. Yes! How can we describe in one way which Deaf children should feel punished and one way in which they feel they punish? Explore the thoughts to understand the forms of punishment.

Throughout my school years, I was made to wear amplification so I could hear some loud noises in my ears. I had absolutely no comprehension of any sound put forcefully through my years. I made several hundreds of guesses listening to my teacher and classmates talking on the microphone. My ears hurt, my body hurt, my mind confounded. I was punished for being Deaf.

DEAF=A collectivity: the people as a whole that is regarded as opprobrious, as a source of ignominy (humiliating) 

The underlying message for my experience with amplification in and out of school was that it was totally unacceptable to be Deaf, and I must be right in the ways of hearing people. That sucks. Really sucks.

Let’s be realistic. Would they ever will be charged with hate crimes? I doubt. Now the scandal about Starkey Hearing Technologies, imagine Deaf children who were survivors of battery economics aka hearing aids for false images, they had been battling through many detours generated by Starkey’s upheavals and exploitation. It has been long overdue, and there seemed a mission with strategic plans lacking relevance as well as reveal something not previously known or realized.

Time for Deaf community to merge from Starkey’s dirty money and raise “new order” to a new era of Deaf community today. Rome was not built overnight, and it did not decline overnight, either. If Starkey Hearing Technologies is on a shaky ground for Deaf Hate Crime, then it is a good time to know what business plan, to launder monies in promoting hegemony, quoted in Paddy Ladd’s Understanding Deaf Culture: In Search of Deafhood, page 77-78,

the concept of hegemony, as initially presented by Gramsci (1985), is important for the development of a more dynamic reading of patterns in social control, since it emphasises that ideologies perpetually compete for acceptance and domination.” 

Starkey Hearing Technologies is about oppressive policies ranging from hiring to firing employees, from educating to exploiting Deaf children, from inspecting to neglecting facilities. Mr. Bill Austin manipulated to turn Starkey Hearing Technologies upside—UP. 800 million dollars.

Time to educate about American Sign Language (ASL)—it is about careful, sustained, and systematic thinking in ASL. It is about a willingness to get the truth and value of ASL, no matter what conclusions would result or how strange it might initially seem. ASL lead to truth and it has potential.

It is good time for Deaf community cooperation more than ever before. The most important among Deaf people—as far as the future of humanity is concerned—is the industry of hearing aids who exploit Deaf children for circus shows, and send false dilemmas and is closely connected to hate crime.

In a book, The Rising Tide of Bigotry and Bloodshed: Hate Crimes quoted by Jack Levin, and Jack McDevitt:

Hate crimes represent one endpoint on the continuum of prejudice and bigotry. For economic as well as psychological reasons, there are countless individuals who feel resentful. They have suffered some loss in self-esteem or status and are eager to place the blame for their loss elsewhere—on those groups and individuals portrayed in the culture of hate as weak, immoral, and uncivilized.”

Did they suffer some loss in self-esteem as well, too? Deaf children are portrayed in the culture of hate as weak, immoral, and uncivilized.

That is what the Starkey Hearing Technologies should be charged with: Hate Crime.

Task Force for the Creation of Deaf Culturally Competent Training for Service Providers of Deaf Children Survivors of Sexual Assault

I submit the accompanying request for proposal, “Task Force for the Creation of Deaf Culturally Competent Training for Service Providers of Deaf Children Survivors of Sexual Assault”, to implore the creation of a specific Task Force dedicated to improving first responder services to Deaf children survivors of sexual assault.

Deaf children have a unique set of barriers to accessing services when a violent has been committed against them. Many agencies may not have a uniform policy for dealing with Deaf children and their staff may lack a core cultural competence necessary for understanding the unique barriers faced by those survivors. Due to their unique barriers, Deaf children survivors under-report crimes perpetrated against them. The creation of a Task Force to implement a comprehensive training for medical providers, law enforcement, social service advocates, will improve Deaf children survivors’ access to service.

I would like to present an executive summary along with the research that shows that 50% of Deaf children will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Deaf children are more likely than hearing children to be survivors of violent crimes. It is certainly demonstrates the enormous psychological and physical impact on Deaf children survivors of sexual assault.

Despite this data, research specific to the prevalence to Deaf children survivors has not adequately been addressed.  Studies do suggest that violent sexual crimes against Deaf children are under-reported.  Deaf cultural competence, specialized services, and improved means of communication with Deaf children survivors will result in more effective service interventions.

Deaf children survivors of sexual assault face special barriers to accessing services. Deaf children survivors suffer from inefficient agency communication systems, and a general provider lack of awareness of the cultural lens of Deafhood and Deaf communities. Deafhood discourses shows that in Paddy Ladd’s book, Understanding Deaf Culture: In Search of Deafhood, political and administrative discourses, academic discourses, specialist discourses, medical discourses, scientific discourses, and media discourses. There is more to this—colonialism and 20th century Deaf Divisions: Linguistic colonialism, colonialism as loss of history and traditions, colonialism and mental health must not be forgotten.

Hooks writes, “For most minority cultures, then, retaining and maintaining a strong historical self is crucial to their pride and to their ability to resist majority-culture constructs of what they should be.”

Ladd writes in page 321, “In Deaf minority cultures, because 90% of parent-child relations are ‘cross-cultural’, the role of Deaf history as transmitted through the education system is of particularly crucial import. Its removal or denial can arguably have especial significance for the mental health of the individual….” The key point is CRUCIAL IMPORT. That is why it is in BOLD statement.

themissingpieceMEDAs a result, Deaf children survivors endure increased isolation and under-report crimes committed against them. Deaf children survivors can be more effectively served through development of a special Task Force spearheaded by the county in your area, to specially train front line staff whose assist Deaf children survivors in crisis.

Wherever the county you are in, can partner with local governmental, and social service agencies to encourage, through specialized training, highly skilled staff advocates knowledgeable on the special issues affecting Deaf children that may prevent them from seeking help.

The advocacy skills learned through the trainings will positively enable agents from law enforcement, hospitals, the justice department and child protective services to more effectively communicate with Deaf children in crisis in the greater area, and provide a culturally competent delivery of service that is accessible and comprehensive.

The report introduction shows that there are not enough integrated resources to assist Deaf children of violent sexual crimes. Lack of understanding of the unique experiences of these survivors, their history of frustration to accessing adequate services after a crime as occurred, results in barriers to services to these children. The creation of a Task Force to implement a comprehensive training for medical providers, law enforcement, social service advocates, will improve Deaf children survivors’ access to service.

With the analysis of data, since there is Department of Justice’s National Crime Victimization has added, I certainly hope that 50% of Deaf children who experiences sexual assault be recognized in there similar to Hate Crimes Statistics Act of 1990. In addition, Deaf children are more likely than hearing children to be survivors of childhood sexual assault and continue to feel the effects of rape or assault well after the crime has been committed. I was one of them when I was ten years old and I am still feeling the effects of it at age of 40. I had been suffering from depression, and abuse alcohol to cover my pain is evident enough to experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Despite the alarming rates of sexual assault against Deaf children, very little research examines the rates at which Deaf children are sexually assaulted. Less formal research examines whether Deaf children survivors seek help after the crime, who assists them, and how service providers and law enforcement can best respond. More research is needed to fully understand the scope of sexual assault and its prevalence in Deaf communities.

Moreover, additional research of community response to Deaf children survivors is necessary to create an understanding of sexual assault in the Deaf community and develop an appropriate systemic service response. Deaf children who are survivors of sexual assault differ from the experience of hearing survivors.

In addition to the stigma and stereotypes placed on them as survivors, Deaf children also deal with the additional stereotypes attributed to them via their Deaf status. Their feelings of shame and embarrassment multiply due to belonging to a close-knit Deaf cultural community. Deaf children are hesitant to report crimes, especially if the perpetrator belongs to the Deaf community. Reporting could publicize their survivor’s status within this community, which Deaf children often perceive will be unsupportive. As a result, the sexual assault can produce a profound feeling of isolation.

Another barrier stems from the failure of our hearing-based culture to recognize Deaf children. Services often view Deafness as a medical impairment. Many Deaf children do not see themselves as disabled, but members of a distinct cultural, linguistic group. This cultural lens affects their interactions with service providers who do not recognize Deaf culture. Communication difficulties often result.

Communication systems are often lacking when Deaf children seek help. Many agencies do not readily have an interpreter available. The agents may rely on family members to get survivors’ story, resulting in further embarrassment and reluctance of the survivor to report the crime.

Even if interpreters are present, a Deaf child must now report her or his story to two strangers instead of one. Access to Ubi Duo owned by sCOMM or trained staff who can operate this technology, is often unreliable, despite ADA law mandating this technology to patients (ADA Training Brief 2). Frustrating experiences with hearing “dispatchers” and law enforcement further dissuade Deaf children survivors from getting help.

A greater understanding of Deaf perception to service provision, and communication issues, is necessary to improve services to Deaf children survivors of Sexual assault in order to better address their cultural and individual needs. Along with the conclusion from analysis, the data suggests that interveners often lack the communication skills and systems to address the needs of Deaf children survivors of sexual assault.

American Sign Language interpreters are not always readily available to assist Deaf survivors, and interveners often resort to interpreters only when more traditional communication has failed.

Many agencies may not have a uniform policy for dealing with Deaf children survivors and their staff may lack a core cultural competence necessary for understand the unique barriers faced by these victims. Due to their unique barriers, Deaf children survivors under-report crimes perpetrated against them. As no reliable tracking exists of how and when Deaf children seek out services, statistics fail to accurately portray the level of survivorship faced by Deaf children, and the frequency in which they access help from law enforcement, hospitals, or social service agencies. Inadequate tracking results in inadequate preparedness in front line response. Lack of readiness creates an inadequate service response.

Response time increases when an interpreter is located. This could cause front line staff to use family members for interpretation, or attempt to glean details of the assault through less effective, incomplete methods of communication.

Staff is not efficiently trained in communication systems like Ubi Duo; If Ubi Duo is unavailable, the introduction of more efficient, advanced communication such as certified ASL interpreters are unlikely to be introduced. Also, personnel trained in conversational ASL are not qualified interpreters. Instead, Deaf children must rely on interpreters who are available but may not have the level of expressive and receptive sign competence needed in sensitive emergency situations.

There is much needed tremendous opportunity to shape and transform existing service for Deaf children survivors into services that offer comprehensive support, safety, and healing to survivors through medical, legal, and social advocacy.

For example, Deaf Counseling Center, Deaf Hope, et al provides as front line to become staunch hospital advocates, accompanying and supporting sexual assaults in need of forensic exams. Law enforcement and county prosecutors will become important advocates as Deaf children survivors navigate the criminal and legal systems to obtain protective orders and Deaf-specific legal supports. Mental health, sexual assault services can serve as community educators of topics directly related to psychological, medical, and social issues faced by Deaf children. Services specific to the needs of Deaf children survivors of sexual assault can promote healing.

Opposition to the development this task force concerns the development of an adequate training model. Where can best practices and culturally competent protocols be attained? Deaf Counseling Center is one of few organizations that offers technical training to service providers. The organization offers important pertinent training modules, including: sexual assault advocate certification, sexual assault in the Deaf community, Deaf culture, becoming accessible to Deaf children survivors.

Similar trainings can be found through ADWAS, a Seattle-based organization that has successfully duplicated its programs in cities across the country. Trainings useful to the Task Force include: education to understand issues of Deaf culture and language, professional development, providers working with Deaf children on issues of sexual assault, interpreter training on appropriate signs in criminal justice proceedings and medical settings.When I experienced sexual assault when I was ten years old, I never had of that stuff like today. Back in 1984, there was no training that would lay groundwork for a comprehensive integrated approach to service provision for Deaf children survivors nor culturally competent services did not result in increased access by members of the Deaf community and result in less taxpayer dollars in the long run. Ubi Duo owned by sCOMM is not healthy AT ALL. It hurts Deaf children even more.

I lived in the hearing community that destroyed my life than people can imagine. I was a forgotten survivor of sexual assault. The hearing world is very cruel.

Illinois Superintendent Depraves American Sign Language

Cued Speech_DumbAssI for one have always believed that any superintendent in Deaf schools who are support Alexander Graham Bell Association’s policy in the bias against the Deaf students. Cued Speech is a bias and manages to weave itself a very haunting reputation that is extremely difficult to catch and comprehend. When it comes to ASL, the bias would be laid on the table and then allow itself to be examined, thus becoming easily erased and eradicated. Let’s call End American Sign Language Bias Now. You see, Poets may take one view; both will delight in one of the most curious of all the curious biases against the Deaf students. The superintendent of Illinois School FOR the Deaf and the team in this manner and for the betterment of all the Deaf students is responsible for bias.

ASL are very much part of Deaf history, believe it or not. Language belittlement and bigotry persist as mechanisms of oppression and hatred around Deaf schools where Deaf children are being housed. It is a tough commentary on the cultural and social life of Deaf children that a written blog post such as this becomes necessary. The dramatic cases cited above are but extreme illustrations of widespread; daily acts of aggression directed toward ASL. I use the term ASL purposefully here, since these acts are nationwide and heinous. It is a hate speech, in fact, an assault against all Deaf children who are well honed in ASL who to define themselves. Deaf children are always in a danger of being defined in another language, that is, a spoken language.

If you want to know what it is like to have migraine, ask a migraine patient. However, if you want an explanation of how migraine occurs—what it is, what causes it, and how to treat it—you are better off consulting someone who studies it. What is true of migraine is also true of being Deaf. It is partially for this reason that he has drawn primarily on the literature—both the theoretical and historical literature and personal observations.

This is a language war in state of Illinois and it typically takes place in a fog of language confusion. The word “war” is derived from the Old English “ wyrre,” which means, “to bring into confusion.” Peculiar things happen to the mind in “language war”, and the person who actually tastes what it is like is not necessarily well placed to understand the psychological processes underlying them.

One reason for this is the fact that “language war” is all about denying other languages, and as such it violates one of our most profound, most visceral taboos—a taboo that goes to the heart of what it means to be a social primate.

Charles Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” becomes highly demanding of any Deaf children’s rights to use ASL today. Since 1880 Milan Resolution, the political freedoms and legal protections has taken away from Deaf children under extreme attack. What major details were left out of the general public about what happened on September 11th, 1880 and why is it not publicly acknowledged in the mainstream news?

For example, Deaf children are current survivors of all the subsequent abuses at that school being forced to learn Cued Speech under Alexander Graham Bell Association’s nose. Wipe off that bugger!

It is called Hegemony. For example, there is a quote approved by the Alexander Graham Bell Board of Directors by a unanimous vote on July 11, 2008. “Through its participation in a variety of coalitions, AG Bell collaborates with organizations that support other modes of communication, such as Cued Speech, Signing Exact English, Total Communication and American Sign Language.”

Isn’t that a corruption that depraves American Sign Language? That is precisely why the superintendent practices hate speech against Deaf students there.

There are many concerns but the big one that needs to be seen that the superintendent allows hearing teachers to become a CULT, for example, P.R. Berthon explains in 1993 the word in Latin, it means to inhabit…and are (ure) is defined as ‘the result of’; this in the broadest sense, one might define culture as ‘the result of human action‘. It is Anti-Deaf Culture.

Charles Darwin, he thought Deaf people were evolved from monkeys and had inability to repeat the same sound implies inability to reason and that is where Cued Speech (the form of Oralism) comes in like eating a chocolate candy then passes out. On the other hand, the superintendent runs its sophisticated, spinning public relations, continues to mislead our society in one of many Internet publications–it is very much Aristotelian institution, they have been inventing its own rules, for example, the key terms to oppress ASL and its Deaf culture and the identity of Deaf in “hearing” status form.

The superintendent knew that Deaf children are not radical enough to commit a life of livelihood of ASL, and “ENCOURAGES” to follow their orders when Cued Speech teachers are present. They are presented with two options in the book, and are not completely sold on either of them.

One compels their head, the other, their heart. Their independence adherence to their own values in selecting trust is ultimately dismissed by school system which has radically disrupt the rule of not using ASL when Deaf students wish to use their language preference. When Deaf students violate the rules of using ASL, the superintendent punishes them. The consequences are far more “ill” than Deaf students actually expounds in their letter. For their freedom to use ASL, they must make the ultimate sacrifice.

With No Thanks to My Alma Mater

2118034_crop_650x440I had been a Portland Trail Blazers fan all my life–I had met Clyde Drexler, Buck Williams, Kevin Duckworth, and Jerome Kersey. They had been in NBA Finals 1990 and 1992. The team would come to my mother’s workplace called Monte Carlo on 10th and Belmont in Portland, Oregon–a very popular Italian restaurant. Drexler, Kersey, and Williams were happy partygoers there and would order two large of pepperoni pizza to bring home for the weekend. I remember my mother telling me some stories about it. Oh, by the way, my mother was pretty damn good waitress earning a lot of tips!

I met Drexler and Williams in person when they were doing autographs for cards and books at Jantzen Beach Mall and found out that Drexler knew bit of American Sign Language (ASL), yes, he did! In 1991, my father took me and my brother to a car-racing event called Budweiser/G.I. Joe’s 200 where Michael Andretti won the event and my brother ran into Kevin Duckworth and I ran into Jerome Kersey and they allowed us to take pictures with them with our old polaroid camera. (it is in my old photo box somewhere) We both were very thrilled to seize the moment! So, I thought I would be lifetime loyal to the Trail Blazers until now.

After finding out that there was a newspaper by the name of Willamette Week, a local and weekly newspaper called Give! Give Central, it is an annual effort to raise funds for local nonprofits and one of the nonprofits: Tucker-Maxon Oral School (TMOS). It was one of 136 “great” non-profits that need your help this holiday season. Every year, they said in their words, “we make it easy for you to make a donation–and a connection–to groups in your community. What you give today will help make Portland a better place all year long”

10624807_10152367877215855_6715650943061383918_nPortland Trail Blazers has agreed to help TMOS to do some fund-raising at one of those games earlier this year (November 13, 2014) and I was pretty heartbroken to see that. Please look at this link and see what TMOS had typed, “Teach deaf children to listen and talk, with an intentional focus on spoken language, and emotional intelligence for all of our students” and raised $3661.00 so far. Why did I choose to write this post? Because TMOS made my life a living hell when I was only two years old child and stayed there for a short stint of two years. TMOS stole my father’s dream car and caused one of many reasons my then parents end up getting a divorce through TMOS’s lies and corruption. FUCK YOU, TMOS! The school philosophy that does not promote sign language and that made my education accessibility harder. My response for Willamette Week: You have no idea how TMOS was a big threat to Deaf children and they have a corrupt perversion of the mind, a complete heartless mind.

Not only that but TMOS also have the habit of shunning evil actions against Deaf children’s language and culture and they are not ashamed to be more cowardly and mean-spirited than “runaway” millionaires. Wretch! They are going so blind, not seeing what road such a lack of necessities leads to and they have not read, they have not written many things of this kind to insult Deaf children. How often they arrogantly boasted that they are fairly confident with regard to insult at least.

President Abraham Lincoln, the first Patron of Gallaudet University said, “it is a sin to be silent when it is your duty to protest” and I hereby protest the source of all insults, and mean-spiritedness and cowardice is not evil, but rather the fear of the evil. TMOS must be stopped and shunned. For the first time, I hereby protest the source of Portland Trail Blazers for helping TMOS out and thank you, Willamette Week for the idiocy and bred when emotion conquers intellect. It is important to have a balance of both, sure, but at the end of the tunnel, it is more important to think about Deaf children rationally than to gossip about the wonders of listening and talking.

These emotional, intellectual, and spiritual realities are what so much of contemporary life seems scrupulously designed to insulate Deaf children from abuses. Again, the failure of educating them ASL does not invoke the casting of spells: it involves the breaking of spells, especially those spells that may hold their language and culture in captive. Deaf children would be viewed as “radical”, in that it addresses the roots of their experience, and it is subversive, in that its intention is to overturn and banish illusion–illiteracy in educational system. Personal, social, and cultural rationalizations concerning Deaf children and the world around them are the spells that have to be broken.

I am very much saddened with Trail Blazers’ organization for failing their extensive research what ASL would have benefit Deaf children 100%. It is like someone is wearing a T-shirt “I can’t breathe” at a NBA game. Is it fair for Deaf children not to sign at all?  I decided not to support Portland Trail Blazers anymore.

Bad Cochlea: How Cochlear Implant Corporations Mislead Deaf Children

 DEAF= CONCRETE 

Cochlear implants has been called the language of miracle deeply “rooted” in Deaf Culture. Wrong! Science means experiment. Concrete constitutes a real thing. We must remind ourselves that our Declaration of Independence makes our country different from any other nation around the world. The Declaration proclaims that Deaf people have inalienable rights to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”—being Deaf is the pursuit of happiness. Cochlear implant is a man-made and it is for awareness, not acquisition like a pumping hot balloon for many innocent people, figuratively speaking to target Deaf babies.

Most recently there are several published articles that are showing that cochlear implant causes high risk for developmental delays in memory and higher thinking, etc. is painful to read. The study of higher socialization of Deaf children due to their assimilation into hearing society (cochlear implants)—Deaf populations in America and globally have been stigmatized and discriminated against throughout history.

Deaf implanted babies who have been the highly oppressed group, falling subject to discrimination and in the past, genocide. This oppression is due to the fact that implementing American Sign Language (ASL) and sign languages rears Deaf children to be intellectually equivalent but socially stunted in comparison with their peers.

There are several articles about cochlear implants that state that the higher social acceptance of cochlear implant makers is the result of only having to know how to be hearing. Technological improvements in cochlear implants mean that all children can have plenty of useful residual hearing. It’s a myth. Cochlear implants rely on the individual’s ability to utilize a defective sense of hearing to understand their world.

Aristotle’s first writings on Deaf people laid the foundation of logical fallacies that were followed for centuries later. He believed that being Deaf is synonymous with being intellectually inferior, and thus coined the phrase deaf and dumb. Aristotle had begun it all.

The Deaf are outsiders in the hearing American world. Shany Mow, the author of How do you dance without music? American Deaf culture: An Anthology wrote that each deaf person has experienced “mental isolation” which he describes in detail; “while everyone is talking or laughing, you are as far as a lone Arab on a desert that stretches along every horizon. Everyone and everything are a mirage; you see them but you cannot touch or become a part of them. Your thirst for connection”

Deaf people who are forced and pushed to get cochlear implant is illegal. Deaf people would get mocked if they do not get cochlear implant. Deaf people come from many angles–from the standpoints of economics, politics, history, ideology, and many disciplines and the laundry list can be breed misery among Deaf people for generations to come. Remember the pursuit of happiness above?

The concern is that Deaf American and other Deaf people everywhere, could enact the strategic multilingualism policies to ensure the protection and preservation of our beloved and precious language (ASL, LSF, BSL, and other more) from possibility of linguistic extinction/loss and sociocultural genocide or undermine the existence of minority language usage. Deaf people everywhere ought to call for the non-intervention policy to make our natural language of the Deaf to the protected status to the listing of endangered language usage in the United States and other countries.

Beginning with the work of AGB in the late 19th century, Deaf people have been frequent and prominent targets of the eugenics movement. It is not widely known by the general public that, in addition to his work as an inventor, Bell was also a leading figure in the education of the deaf in the late 19th century and 20th centuries. In order to put this issue into context, it is important to consider Bell and the educational and social programs he promoted.

In a time of great economic, scientific, and technological advancement of cochlear implants, it is a mistake to believe that it is a miracle. Cochlear implant corporations are trying to be “global” in scope. They target Deaf people everyday. Clearly the cochlear implant corporations have shown themselves to be guilty of bigotry and excluding Deaf people from consideration. What bothers me the most is that cochlear implant makers are promoting “rags-to-riches”, “unknown-to-known” and “Deaf person-can-now-hear” hoax. It is not necessarily a privilege to be Deaf, but it is certainly has it benefits. That is why we have ASL and Deafhood. Deaf people are concrete!
