Why Should Deaf Children Be Condemned for Life?

unquietgrave_sm.jpg

This is invisible hate crime, folks. This is the world where Deaf children can no longer protect themselves. Every year, thousands of Deaf children are mockingly targeted without compassion because they’re easy to target for greed.

For example, a cochlear implant surgeon saying, “Here is a child with no hearing whatever. Previously that child would have been condemned to a life of signing, special schools, and now…we can restore that sense. And the vast majority of the children will given a really a virtually normal life.”

It is a sign of dangerous framing. There are two meanings of the word: “condemned”

Express complete disapproval of, typically in public; censure.

Sentence (someone) to a particular punishment, especially death.

Death. Does it look familiar? We the Deaf are in constant danger other than sign language. The sound /f/ in the term, Deaf shares the same fricative—the force of the breath through a constricted or partially obstructed passage in the vocal tract—with the sound of /th/ in the term, death. Deaf people are being punished because they are Deaf. Can we understand and combat hate crime and form of bigotry? Are hate crime, hate speech, and hate literature about Deaf people getting worse?

We all should read Tarski’s Theory of Truth written by Hartry Field and his structure of ideas, sometimes paradoxical, inconsistent, or contradictory, that people have about good and bad, about beautiful and ugly, and about right and wrong, which are the justifications that people cite to explain their actions.

The theory of truth along which people make judgments are all dependent upon what they learn from childhood. These include judging between right and wrong, between good and bad, and between beautiful and ugly, all based upon social and community values. They are not acquired through our genes, but through our socialization. That implies that they can be relearned; that we could change our judgments.

In the broad sweep of human existence, the general trend of change has been for a decrease in the number of truth, and a reduction from societal differences in society to secular space. From local community with theory of truth, Deaf people moved to a community with struggles, from that Deaf people moved to truth and an increase in the proportion of people, like cochlear implant surgeons who believe in no truth.

The impact of hate crime had spread well beyond the immediate survivors and victims and the target of Deaf community to the general society.

This effect includes practice of hate speech, like this surgeon’s words: “Previously that child would have been condemned to a life of signing”—-is the central point here is that Deaf people are continually punished in the name of hate crimes, we must understand precisely why Deaf children are punishing, and it is a hate crime grounded in name of Audism as well. Audism is in the umbrella of hate.

What we need is in this world, is not healthy, what we need is not hatred of Deaf people, and what we need is not punishment of Deaf people, what we need is love and wisdom.

Remembering Milan 1880: Light a Candle Against Hate

41086302_10216077991438469_8159213122410774528_n.jpeg

September 7, 1880—has addressed the Deaf community worldwide—before I get into the urgent necessity of this post. Let’s start with some painful memories. Imagine the day after September 7th, let’s think about Deaf children’s skills to use sign language as human right, they would have been great leaders—to embark on journey through uncharted territory, and to change the image of Deaf people within painful energy into the world that sees before us.

It was not long though, before Deaf people were pounded with human threat, and deal with Oralism from every direction—slammed doors and angry looks wherever they use sign language. That’s hate crime, folks.

Today, the surge of Oralism, for example, listening and speaking, Cued Speech, and cochlear implants, Deaf children are forced to face with a world that feels extremely fragmented and hostile as much as possible. That is not the way of a human life that was supposed to be safe.

The challenges Deaf people face are far—the rise of bigotry and hate crimes, and the huge gap between the richest and poorest are just the tip of the iceberg and that is even scary part.

Do not be intimidated by power. Deaf community is in the making—and stop in the name of hate! We need to resist in the age of hate crime. Imagine how Deaf community felt the day after September 7th, 1880. It’s just mind-boggling. We, the Deaf people have the power to make a change—and start off by digging deep into our identity as the state of being of Deaf.

Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”

There are plenty of Deaf people who survived who dealt with Oralism ideology, they are also humans, who got the same number of hours each day as others on Earth—we must continue to resist against Alexander Graham Bell’s hate practices.

Without Limits?

History on this day, June 2nd—in 1875 and 1907 has something in common what they had been bullying Deaf people ever since–battery economics and make a huge profit off them.

Mirrors of Destruction: Genocide in Deaf Community

holocaust-genocide-studies-clark-university.jpg

After watching Carey Ballard’s ASL video about 10 stages of genocide in Deaf community, it was very good video! Deaf people need to stand up and oppose genocide laws. How many prominent stories would need to criticize the practice of genocide before the courts will listen to us? We all need to remind ourselves that sharing a story is powerful. It starts with you. United States Supreme Court motto: Equal Justice Under Law. We need to study International Court of Justice Seal carefully and examined.

With genocidal practices going around Deaf community in America, the rise of cochlear implants is not even funny, we must continue to resist and believes in empowering Deaf community harmed by cochlear implant companies. We believe in sharing truth to power and it is the merit key to pursuit of happiness. When a former cochlear implant user share their stories to carry their lived experience suffering against this dehumanizing system, the stories will make all the difference.

To resist against the fast-spreading genocide practice—Deaf community need to build an important movement and be strong. I believe in the power of invisible stories. It would bring cochlear implant survivors together to build powerful change of agent whom of them suffers against corruption. We also need to bring up discussions and understand more about the stages of dehumanization, pedagogy of the oppressed, and marginalization. We need to overcome the ignorance and culture of fear about Deaf people.

The hearts and minds of Deaf community do not need to be viewed as weak people and easily targeted for profits. The stage of genocide needs to be challenged in attitudes and beliefs that created fear, oppressing Deaf community directly impacted by the larger, if not, biggest dehumanizing system. MJ Bienvenu wrote, “We need to ask a larger question……why do we need Deaf Studies?” in Bienvenu’s article quoted from ‘Deaf Studies in the Year 2000: New Directions.’ It is indeed a critical thinking question that we all need to set a good leadership for better directions to stop the mass of cochlear implants.

I believe it was written in 1993 or 1994. Now it is 2018, and the surge of cochlear implants is becoming a global genocide. The state of cochlear implants is raking in big cash these days. It is becoming a booming economy that helped push genocide to record high. And….it is only beginning.

The goal of wiping the term, ‘Deaf’ off the face of Mother Earth is a reflection of oppressive and hateful leadership. Cochlear implant companies and the leadership of Alexander Graham Bell Association remains a lying dweller in education rankings, the divide between Deaf people has grown into a different picture.

Deaf babies are being targeted for profits, and I am dismayed how the status quo carries around Deaf people. Cochlear implants are the biggest financial dysfunctions that are hurting the vulnerability of Deaf community in the long run. The treatment of Deaf people is not the only, or even the most grossly neglected injustice flowing from mass of lies.

There are plenty of hate crime, hate speech and biases against Deaf people every day, largely invisible in the biased media that would guarantee stakeholders, ignorant minds, and deficit thinkers to make sure Deaf community shall be oppressed daily is held accountable. The genocide practice also treats Deaf people as forgotten citizens, and it is an injustice that needs to examine by the fact that the majority of oppression to wipe out the term of ‘Deaf’ for the pleasure of advantaged would make them feel safer.

Why is that? Why Equal Justice Under Law? How come Deaf people no longer equal for the roots of justice?

My Film In-Depth Analysis: “A Quiet Place”

a-quiet-place--e1523287240476.jpg

You see this picture above? The Deaf actress signs to her character father in the film scene, “It does not work!” in reference to cochlear implant.

A Quiet Place was one of the most controversial films of the year in Deaf community. My reflection about this film is a major challenge. The opening scene of cochlear implant first thing exposes the arrogance of modern medicine and the decided failure of our society in heeding health system. The culture of fear continues.

Is it to benefit medicine and battery corporate controlled systems? The root of this aforementioned control is that those profiting from practicing medicine and selling batteries see no money to be made in respecting Deaf culture first thing.

It was powerful enough to create an image to meet the advanced methods of blatant oppression that approaches and questions necessary. It is only the beginning. Is this a sign of cochlear implant war? Is this a sign of third wave of Oralism? It only gets worsened when it comes to “Deafness”. In this film about profiting from cochlear implants, I would like to point out that cochlear implant crisis threatens not only economic collapse among families but also educational inflation beleaguered by costly services.

Hollywood needs to be honest about arrogance of Deaf culture.

Does this film’s approach of cochlear implants to be personal and individual freedom challenge the norms of Deaf community? Does this film of powerful and oppressive forces simply create Audism? The critical examination shows the absence of cultural contribution to the Deaf community and the tradition of literacy canon in this film. This cultural oppression is directly related in Hollywood historical tradition of systematic and institutional Audism proscribing an inferior status to Deaf babies.

Not only did this cultural phenomenon produce a scant offering of works by cochlear implant companies, criticism of Deaf babies that are not implanted in regard to these offerings were indicting and angry, perhaps that Deaf babies should stray too far from their state of happiness in the “pursuit” of healthy journey. Truth be told, however, Hollywood remains a nonstarter for “bonding” purposes.

Carol Padden and Tom Humphries write in one of their book chapters:

We had heard several stories along themes similar to the ones in this folktale, but it was not until we were displaced in a foreign country that we were able to recognize consciously what until then we had only intuitively understood: these stories are myths, tales, parables that carry the set of ideas about what makes it possible to be a Deaf person. By retelling these stories the group can talk about a knowledge it believes to be essential, its lifeblood.” (Deaf in America: Voices from a Culture)

Hollywood was supposed to be the front-line lifeblood of knowledge. We need to look at the central role of the public and private split has played in big issues such as Audism, oppression, and human rights, the need for “cochlear implant” spaces, and the legacies of colonialism. Relationships and Hollywood abound in many ways, cochlear implant industries are able to experience the many forms of big money that emerge to practice the oppression of Deaf babies, through the eyes of Hollywood.

electricity_batteries-e1491324777302-500x289.jpg

The pairing of cochlear implant to beloved friend, Hollywood illustrates the perhaps most ill perceived of Deaf babies with pride and prejudice. Both parties desire the film to fulfill familial and societal expectations, establish battery economics, and affix social status connections that Hollywood supplant cochlear implant industries firmly with first-class genteel society.

I was clearly disappointed with the grand opening of the film that hurts the most. Looking back through history of 12 Deaf children who died from cochlear implant surgeries in 1989 and the many painful stories by cochlear implant survivors to this date today and the future, too. This abiding human question about whether cultural oppression strikes at the very soul of Deaf humanity—of how Hollywood view Deaf babies. The stories about how successful cochlear implants are myths and tales.

So much for “these stories are myths, tales, parables that carry the set of ideas about what makes it possible to be a Deaf person

My Thoughts: “A Quiet Place”

The movie, “A Quiet Place” is generating a lot of money more than we understand. Hollywood is the front burner of powerful information. It the most powerful oppression of Deaf people.
