That is where the dirty business starts to come in. Illinois Superintendent Depraves American Sign Language

Cued Speech_DumbAssI for one have always believed that any superintendent in Deaf schools who are support Alexander Graham Bell Association’s policy in the bias against the Deaf students. Cued Speech is a bias and manages to weave itself a very haunting reputation that is extremely difficult to catch and comprehend. When it comes to ASL, the bias would be laid on the table and then allow itself to be examined, thus becoming easily erased and eradicated. Let’s call End American Sign Language Bias Now. You see, Poets may take one view; both will delight in one of the most curious of all the curious biases against the Deaf students. The superintendent of Illinois School FOR the Deaf and the team in this manner and for the betterment of all the Deaf students is responsible for bias.

ASL are very much part of Deaf history, believe it or not. Language belittlement and bigotry persist as mechanisms of oppression and hatred around Deaf schools where Deaf children are being housed. It is a tough commentary on the cultural and social life of Deaf children that a written blog post such as this becomes necessary. The dramatic cases cited above are but extreme illustrations of widespread; daily acts of aggression directed toward ASL. I use the term ASL purposefully here, since these acts are nationwide and heinous. It is a hate speech, in fact, an assault against all Deaf children who are well honed in ASL who to define themselves. Deaf children are always in a danger of being defined in another language, that is, a spoken language.

If you want to know what it is like to have migraine, ask a migraine patient. However, if you want an explanation of how migraine occurs—what it is, what causes it, and how to treat it—you are better off consulting someone who studies it. What is true of migraine is also true of being Deaf. It is partially for this reason that he has drawn primarily on the literature—both the theoretical and historical literature and personal observations.

This is a language war in state of Illinois and it typically takes place in a fog of language confusion. The word “war” is derived from the Old English “ wyrre,” which means, “to bring into confusion.” Peculiar things happen to the mind in “language war”, and the person who actually tastes what it is like is not necessarily well placed to understand the psychological processes underlying them.

One reason for this is the fact that “language war” is all about denying other languages, and as such it violates one of our most profound, most visceral taboos—a taboo that goes to the heart of what it means to be a social primate.

Charles Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” becomes highly demanding of any Deaf children’s rights to use ASL today. Since 1880 Milan Resolution, the political freedoms and legal protections has taken away from Deaf children under extreme attack. What major details were left out of the general public about what happened on September 11th, 1880 and why is it not publicly acknowledged in the mainstream news?

For example, Deaf children are current survivors of all the subsequent abuses at that school being forced to learn Cued Speech under Alexander Graham Bell Association’s nose. Wipe off that bugger!

It is called Hegemony. For example, there is a quote approved by the Alexander Graham Bell Board of Directors by a unanimous vote on July 11, 2008. “Through its participation in a variety of coalitions, AG Bell collaborates with organizations that support other modes of communication, such as Cued Speech, Signing Exact English, Total Communication and American Sign Language.”

Isn’t that a corruption that depraves American Sign Language? That is precisely why the superintendent practices hate speech against Deaf students there.

There are many concerns but the big one that needs to be seen that the superintendent allows hearing teachers to become a CULT, for example, P.R. Berthon explains in 1993 the word in Latin, it means to inhabit…and are (ure) is defined as ‘the result of’; this in the broadest sense, one might define culture as ‘the result of human action‘. It is Anti-Deaf Culture.

SPEECH= any action that hurts, offends or judges others;

HATE= A feeling of aversion or hostility;

DEAF= a collectivity: the people as a whole that is regarded as opprobrious, as a source of ignominy (humiliating)

Charles Darwin, he thought Deaf people were evolved from monkeys and had inability to repeat the same sound implies inability to reason and that is where Cued Speech (the form of Oralism) comes in like eating a chocolate candy then passes out. On the other hand, the superintendent runs its sophisticated, spinning public relations, continues to mislead our society in one of many Internet publications–it is very much Aristotelian institution, they have been inventing its own rules, for example, the key terms to oppress ASL and its Deaf culture and the identity of Deaf in “hearing” status form.

The superintendent knew that Deaf children are not radical enough to commit a life of livelihood of ASL, and “ENCOURAGES” to follow their orders when Cued Speech teachers are present. They are presented with two options in the book, and are not completely sold on either of them.

One compels their head, the other, their heart. Their independence adherence to their own values in selecting trust is ultimately dismissed by school system which has radically disrupt the rule of not using ASL when Deaf students wish to use their language preference. When Deaf students violate the rules of using ASL, the superintendent punishes them. The consequences are far more “ill” than Deaf students actually expounds in their letter. For their freedom to use ASL, they must make the ultimate sacrifice.

Cochlear Implant Promoters: Stop Recruiting Deaf Children!

Cochlear implants are irreversible and irreplaceable. The article was very important to read for one biggest reason: Doctors are against recommendations by implanting Deaf children and that is damaging enough already. This is a huge step! It is very important to remember that none of young children under seven years of age have a normal speech. Cochlear implant promoters always target on babies and children under age 7 do “age-appropriate” speech. Do we even realize that? The link below will lead you to read and understand why the doctors are now against cochlear implants.

The other thing is that the older Deaf children began grammar lessons, which focus on their skills in applying punctuations in their speech. CI does not pick up punctuation “pauses” because it is unable to filter sounds as well as “punctuation” silenced.

From the article that says, “The device was implanted before they were 7 years old….” Again, up to seven years old. It is a big trick! No child, Deaf and hearing alike, have normal speech till after age 7. Ask any linguist, good or bad, if children under age 7 years old have intelligible speech. The answer will be NO. Period. How can they compare deaf children with cochlear implants with those children if their speech is not intelligible? They would capitalize on “age-appropriate” speech, meaning unintelligible speech. It is totally unbelievable! They always advertise deaf children up to age 7.

In grammar school, children are taught to speak properly based on punctuation. Once they have mastered the speech, they begin to shift from writing to rhetoric, the highest form of speech. Like I said in my older post, I had witnessed plenty of “yes-man” environments at Gallaudet where they accept the information with questions that confirm the same information. They allow the advertising flyers about cochlear implants on the hallways there. Serious business.

What bothers me the most is that the article said, “the implant preventing the thinking capacity among the kids” is very scary to read like this! How well Deaf children with cochlear implants, for example, depends on how much of listening and speaking they have done, and it is never autonomous! They have to start to think about hearing: they enter into a body of thought and try to hear. FOR WHAT? It is like, why would the bus driver drive to a wrong place and that’s how badly the thinking capacity is! For example, in late 1980s, 12 children died from the cochlear implant surgery!

Cochlear implant makers are trying to make Deaf children to be “hearing” people and act considerably different. All they care is about moneymaking and charging down on our being Deaf. They make us “hear” through high “hearing” technologies. It is all about general social exile are the norms that must be reversed.

The doctors who agree that cochlear implanting are morally wrong that makes them good doctors! Maxwell Bennett wrote in the Neuroscience & Philosophy: “The brain does not hear, but it’s not deaf, anymore than trees are deaf”. The other words, only human beings can be said, “to see or be blind, hear or be deaf, thoughtful or be thoughtless, and decisive or be indecisive.” We live in a society, why not we taught to believe in facts before myth, science before faith, and reason before assumption?

Nuremberg Laws: Target Recruitment of Cochlear Implants to Perish Deaf People

The doctors who performs cochlear implants on Deaf babies knows the risk with no safety at all, the doctors also knows that there are plenty of precautions that must be taken in proportion to the actual risk of harm. The doctors teach Deaf children their precautions that they did not realize that they are teaching the, and they keep up where they are and who they are associated with—-hearing people and that means it will help them make dirty money with zillions of instructions against much greater risk from family members in their lives.

Cochlear implant companies are a parallel to the German Registry prior to World War Two. In 1935, Germany enacted the Reich Citizenship Law also known as Nuremberg, which separated Germans into two groups. The first group’s citizens were called Reich citizens who were allowed to keep all of their constitutional rights and freedoms. The second groups were called German Nationals (Jews, homosexuals, brown skinned people, disabled people and Deaf people, etc.) and who were then assigned degraded and limited constitutional rights and freedoms. We all know what happened to those assigned to the degraded rights citizens of group number two. Not only but also the cochlear implant companies are creating hidden monitoring programs that supports dehumanization and segregation.

The persecution of people in history usually starts out by the division of society into regular and degraded citizenship groups. The next step is to shun them and exile them to the edges of society. After a while it is decided that this degraded people must be held in camps away from everybody else to protect both sides from each other. The final step is to liquidate the degraded citizens because they are too expensive or bothersome to maintain.

It goes the same to the Deaf people that include children that are getting threats from the society. Deaf people do not earn their outright citizenry. Their legal status is Deaf. Nothing more. Deaf people had been fighting to survive the elements in their life everyday. For example, their rights to use American Sign Language and their state of being Deaf to support their survival modes. Cochlear implant companies are abusive very much in their own elements, which are cruel, and an abuse of state power against Deaf people’s wishes. A month ago, there was a massive lawsuit against cochlear implant makers called Cochlear Ltd. Based in Australia for 131.2 million dollars, which is in my opinion, is not enough. It should be more than 100 billion dollars or even shut the company down! They are a billion-dollar company………..lots of Ben Franklin’s dollars!

The reason the lawsuit was because the company got their ass kicked dealing with an infringement trail over patents relayed to the devices in state of California, the same state that holds the rank of the world’s eighth’s largest economy by the net worth in gross domestic product (GDP): Whopping $2.0 trillion dollars. The point is that $131.2 million is VERY small amount. It is the exactly the same amount of the movie (131.2 mil dollars), The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug earned during their opening movie box office weekend worldwide. See the link below. Flash news: Are we the Deaf worth $131.2 million dollars for their genocide practice? Are we the Deaf seen as the Era of Desolation?

After reading Deaf People in Hitler’s Europe wrote by Donna F. Ryan and John S. Schuchman, in page 19, they wrote, “The Freiburg anthropologist Eugen Fischer had become famous through his book, The Rehoboth Bastards and the Problem of Miscegenation Among Humans, written on the basis of his research in German Southwest Africa and published in 1913. This study established his reputation and also influenced all subsequent German racial legislation, including the Nuremberg racial laws…” it goes the same to William House, the father of Cochlear Implant who used his reputation that influenced all the subsequent A-U-D-I-S-M legislation. Again in page 38, “The Nuremberg laws were considered public health measures and were administered primarily by physicians…”

Again, the cochlear implant makers are nothing but a shaming and humiliation system of punishment applied to Deaf people who have not harm the society at all. When a cochlear implant maker trains a hospital doctor to degrade the freedom and legal rights of Deaf people among us is safe, no? The cochlear implant companies are the latest examples of long-line of “hearing” witch-hunts. Please look up Germany’s 1935 Reich (Nuremberg) Citizenship Law and see what the cochlear implant companies are doing to Deaf people today. Doctors failed to follow The Hippocratic Oath.

We the Deaf needs to organize a movement to abolish cochlear implant makers because for the biggest reason, they are creating an oppressive punishment against Deaf people based on fear and disgust. Cochlear implants are unconstitutional and discriminatory. Not even for 131.2 million dollars! Pretty messed up, right? Today (Feb.16th) a year ago, I was asked to consider getting a cochlear implant during an emergency room and my chief answer: NO!!!

Gallaudet Pitfall: Deaf People’s Harmony

From one of my previous blogs, someone asked me to show the proof that Aristotle committed suicide; there is no need to criticize my truth. That person had an access to the higher education and can find out from there. It is an easy vocation to do it. Hint: A book that focuses only on Alexander the Great’s life. After Aristotle actually took his life, his work fell into the hands of the Arabic world, Islam, the enemy of the Church. Although the Church was aware of Aristotelian thoughts, they refused to incorporate his work into the intellectual life. Reason: Aristotle did not die naturally. Aristotle’s work became appreciated in the 13th century Spain where Judaism, Christianity and Islam lived in harmony.  Aristotle lived in harmony to mock Deaf people’s solemnity.

The copies of Aristotle’s work eventually fell into the hands of Saint Thomas Aquinas who promoted some concepts into the Church in the 14th century.  Aristotle lived way after Socrates passed away in 399 B.C.; his thoughts were evolved from the Socratic doctrine that the mutes, who signed in groups, had intelligence.  Saint Augustine was the 4th century AD bishop who ordered Saint Jerome to put together and compile the Bible. The same guy, Saint Jerome who wrote EPHPHATHA in the Bible. Much information was deliberately eliminated, but St. Augustine pointed out that the Deaf do have the soul if they are able to talk about the same GOD. The whole point is that EPHPHATHA is very Aristotelian method.

I began to realize that many people are not aware of the governance at Gallaudet University—a system of higher learning management. EPHPHATHA is a governance duty to make sure Deaf people is healed from their ears. Alan Hurwitz could not do anything to make Deaf students better on campus or even to offer an academic course. It is the Board of Trustees (BoT) that is more powerful than Faculty Senate. It is the same truth for all other colleges and universities. If Board of Trustees said no, then we are all struck.  For example, if a professor can facilitate a course proposal through the Faculty Senate’s Curriculum Committee, and if the Committee said no, then the professor is stuck. An administrator could not touch the Senate because he is an administrator. The same thing goes to Alan Hurwitz.

In 1988, when there was a Deaf President Now (DPN) protest, the Faculty Senate voted to disassociate itself from the Board Chairperson Janet Spillman for saying that the deaf people were not ready for a higher position at Gallaudet. It was the vote that helps winning the protest.  It is time to erase EPHPHATHA from Gallaudet campus and vote no confidence in BoT’s leadership.  Also it hurts not only the university but also our Deaf intellectual life—our academic freedom. It must not be over-sighted.

Imagine this, if Deaf people, the Deaf world, populated the world, our beloved earth. What if the world was devoid of hearing people? At very least a Deaf world would be a signing place where everything had a sign name thought of or experienced, for there would be just a signed language. Unfortunately, the world is not Deaf. Indeed, it is thickly populated with people who can hear and speak. In this very world today, I am asking if these hearing people do actually listen to themselves and to speak with the Deaf. Or should I ask whether these hearing people so gullible there exists the medical and scientific arrogances.  For instance, the term, EPHPHATHA, the world’s invisible Audism had proposed that Deaf people must be cured. If we manage to get the media to recognize the extent of Audism on Gallaudet campus, then we move them closer to an open mind because Audism is “unheard of”—Aye?

In the 15th century, Martin Luther challenged the Church by publishing the Bible in the German language.  In the 16th century, Henry VIII broke up with the Church. In the 17th century, the Puritans became the pilgrims in America. In the 18th century, America revolted against the British Empire. In the 19th century, America had the Civil War. In the 20th century, America saw two World Wars. In the 21st century, the term EPHPHATHA is still around Gallaudet. Why not we the Deaf challenge BoT and remove the term off the seal. It is time for Deaf people to live in harmony.  The irony thing is that one of the BoT members holds PhD in Cross Cultural Communication and Language and the same guy who coined Audism has not done enough conscious effort to stop it.

EPHPHATHA is very much the role of culture in attempting to medicalize Deaf suffering and toxic language in cross-cultural discipline and measures. Is it an occupation that many critics are not aware of EPHPHATHA at best, a betrayal at worse? We all ride. Now we can ride as one. The goal of removing the term is to gather thousands and thousands of support, to speak with one powerful “voice” and let policymakers, the media, and BoT know that removing Audism-theme is important and be supported. Also, will Gallaudet University we known ever grow into a reality or see the light of the day?

It is about liberty and democracy.  As Deaf citizens of the world, exactly what is our responsibility toward deafness implies—ASL and sign language! Being Deaf does not mean listening and speaking.

Isaiah 29.18: “Is it not a duty that falls to all of us to take up these children and to protect them on behalf of God, to educate them so that, as the prophet tells us, every day the deaf may heard the word of the book”

As Speechless As You Are

After collecting and reading archived letters from Gallaudet University about EPHPHATHA in my previous blog with 12 different posts, (I could not upload all the images at once, so I had to split different posts and I apologize about that) it is still blurry and very limited information. We the Deaf need to report Audism, language aversion, our language, and our culture. Removing EPHPHATHA will design to empower the Deaf community to prevent these religious “bad omen” or “witch hunt” to heal and minimize the false beliefs and negative feelings that people have about the Deaf. What does Deaf people feel like when they drive by, walk by nor walk around Gallaudet and see EPHPHATHA playing behind the fence? Deaf people on display?

EPHPHATHA is driving Deaf people out of their state of being Deaf and only sees the world of action to make sure that Deaf people do not think and desire their own culture because EPHPHATHA is an everyday influence on Gallaudet’s seal which has a huge power-playing and that is why Deaf people do not talk much about it. Talking about EPHPHATHA is an opportunity for us to learn about ourselves as Deaf people and I think it is very important to know that we need to reclaim our lives back in good conscience. Not only that the term also fragmentize the Deaf community into quattuordecillion pieces.

Deaf people must fight against the religious belief to heal us in order to preserve our language and our culture for future generations. Gallaudet needs to know that every Deaf citizen’s rights to be rooted in the free pursuit of happiness. “Be Thou Opened” has nothing to do with the opening of mind, knowledge, education, learning, whatever, but we must look at the very ORIGIN of the term: healing ears and speech. That is very much hidden message. Every English word always has the ORIGIN meaning of it. We must remember to recognize the origin meaning first. The term itself taught the university how NOT to tolerate diversity.

From one of my favorite books, Cultural Studies in the Future Tense by Lawrence Grossberg wrote Cultural Studies describes how people’s everyday lives are articulated by and with culture. It investigates how people are empowered and disempowered by the particular structures and forces that organize their everyday lives in contradictory ways and their (everyday) lives are themselves articulated to and by the trajectories of economic, social, cultural, and political power..This is, seeks to understand not only the organization of power, but also the possibilities of survival, struggle, resistance, and change. It takes contestation for granted, not as a reality in every instance, but as an assumption necessary for the existence of critical work, political opposition, and even historical change.”  

It is time to make a substantive democracy and work for real change. EPHPHATHA is divided. We, the Deaf people, are united. It is pretty much evident that Audists are holding large claims on Gallaudet’s property, including a fair amount of government debt. President Hurwitz is not the president we need. He is not doing his job. We have to let him ago. We need to get back in shape. It is pretty easy choice when you compare two circus clowns, I. King Jordan and Alan Hurwitz that lie at the drop of their teeth every time they speak, worship only the greed of EPHPHATHA and never tell us what their plans who allows the obstruction of Audism on the Gallaudet seal. Both are members of Alexander Graham Bell Association. No character and heart for the Deaf community at all.

It is time to propose to the Gallaudet administration that it is enough to play mind games with Deaf people’s emotions. We need to get ourselves involved in this hidden term and remove it. Our activism needs to make a loud statement and let them know that our conviction that EPHPHATHA is wrong. Why does Gallaudet fail Deaf people from not succeeding their hearing abilities? Deaf people should not been criticized and their biggest liabilities are to be succeed and get a fair education from Gallaudet without the term wringing their necks around. EPHPHATHA does not contribute to the cultural diversity of this Deaf community and makes us invisible in this world. Removing the term off the seal will bring Deaf people a place of belonging, but if the term is still there, then Deaf people will deny their sense of belonging. Simple.

Media Portrayal of Deaf Identity Theft

For me to write this the topic of Deaf Identity theft draws an immediate mental connection with the commercial campaign Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf (AGBAD), dealing with the misappropriation of ASL by Deaf individuals posing as the true owners and using them for their communication.

The advertisements case the event in very comedic light, simultaneously giving weight to and downplaying the severity of their actions. The result is a memorable ad but a lukewarm message in that it is ultimately fails to create any action on the parts of the Deaf people needing protection. This mirrors the stance taken, if any, on the part of the local and national media.

Dismissing ASL on the topic are often so sensational that they remove the watcher from the possibly of it ever happening to them. Moreover, the ability to detect and prevent Deaf Identity is advertised everywhere in newspapers, billboards, etc as mostly passive-aggressive precaution to be taken care of by second parties. Overall, the media causes consumers to take less precaution with Deaf Identity than the ASL or crime merits.

Deaf identity theft is not limited to any human fraud. The AGBAD regards it as being anytime for degrading ASL, it is an punishment for the organization to do that toward Deaf people who have their own identity. We the Deaf people have been the survivors of Deaf identity theft. The emotional impact is similar to the survivors of identity theft. With it leaving such a strong aftertaste of disdainment one would think that it would get the same media coverage and respect Audism but this is not often the case.

Because AGBAD and its sister corporations have so many safeguards against Deaf Identity theft, it seems that Deaf identity at the local level often goes unreported in the states and local news. Often, when a Deaf baby is forced to change the way to learn how to “forget that they are deaf,” the corporations will contact the media to verify that they are now hearing something. Also, the corporations have put in place safeguards in which they refund misappropriated assets. People who are stealing Deaf identities often do not have to pay back and this causes a loss to the Deaf community as well. The prevalence of these instances would cause worry to the Deaf individuals who believe that their assets are safe with their lives in which they trust themselves.

Is it OK for AGBAD to rob Deaf people of their identity? No publicity is made on either the state or local level and it takes Deaf people years and years to rebuild their lives as Deaf people. The part of this episode could be that individuals are dishonest in seeking to take advantage of the system that allows feigning Deaf identity theft when actuality they make deals and try to reclaim money reimbursement for what they have spent themselves. The media has slowed its facts against Deaf identity theft considerably and this is in part due to more stringent safe guards and in part due to such a high prevalence of each instance that they only really give coverage to survivors that they deem worth mentioning. Deaf identity theft is hardly ever mentioned unless it is a considerable amount of money. The safeguards now in place has caused a considerable increase of the amount of money stolen due to Deaf identity theft.

This type of Deaf identity theft in the media generally does not have the same weight as those in which money is involved due to the non-financial gains of praise and acclaim.

Deaf Stories Wanted

ImageWe need to collect stories in ASL to study socialization as well as the production of Deafhood. We need to illuminate how Deaf stories “depoliticizes” between each other from long-term conditioning and not the dynamics of Audism to define human socialization as the process in which Deaf people learn how to carry themselves both mentally and physically in accordance with societal expectations. They learn what hearing people are supposed to do and what Deaf people are not supposed to do through four domains: their families, schools, friends, and the media.

FAMILIES:

Through parents, infants, and toddlers obtain “listening and speaking” lessons via activities that they are enrolled in and direct instruction. ASL is the direct instruction of all languages. For example, many Deaf babies who does not learn ASL are more likely to be language delay with no guidance. Once the babies learn ASL throughout their developmental period, they begin to identity with ASL and the state of being Deaf are more likely to grow strong identity. This influence is significant because many Deaf children develop strong Deafhood identities right there. It will become their role expectations and promote and cultivate with their parents and themselves into personhood.

SCHOOLS:

We need to bring more stories and to discuss ASL/Audism as if they affect Deaf people and policies as well as practices which has governed their education. The purpose in this article is to discuss what constitutes “deficit thinking” and contrast it with the prevalent Oralism approach to Audism which patterns other governmental policies in its “denial of the Deaf”–

FRIENDS:

The stories are our biggest assets in these domains fostering the world in which Deaf people are not equal in income, prestige, power and life changes in the society. The stories need to take a biological and historical look at whether or not Deaf people are not sufficient to suit to be intelligent as hearing people are. The 1880 Milan Resolution, for the last 133 years, Deaf people has been the part of “developing oppressed societies”, and it has caused Deaf people to live as demanded by a hearing society  in order to survive.

MEDIA:

The account of travesties against many Deaf people in social media indicates that Audism is alive and well in its policy. Why does Audism prevail? Let’s look at the Deaf perception of observance of natural law, which higher than any human law, and governs how people view their interactions with other people, animals and plants on the mother Earth. In contrast, the politics of Audism has created thinking based on timelines and progression, and progression cannot happen without accumulation and consumption.

These values creates many things that are included sustainable living and reciprocity to all other living organisms. Balance, reciprocity, and cyclical thinking (all thinks natural are cyclical–moons, seasons, bodies, people, and time) and create a philosophy of knowing that Deaf people exist on a cyclical continuum, and what you do now will affect you in the future. In accordance, you do not take without giving and you take only what you need and leave the rest. Deafhood is built on these tenants, collected through hundreds of years of observation and practice and intimate knowledge of their Deaf stories and their roles as careful students and caretakers.
