There is an international case in Germany about cochlear implants. The case is supposed to make a statement in a courtroom on Monday, November 20th. The case: The parents of a Deaf child makes a final decision-making authority not to support cochlear implants for their own Deaf child then the doctor takes them to the court for not supporting the idea of cochlear implants even though the doctor do not support them as the parental decision makers. Who gives Dr. Andreas Gerstner have the authority to think that way?

So, cochlear implants are the matter of making decision regarding Deaf children’s welfare. Is there even a law for cochlear implant industries to have the rights to make decision over parents’ decision? Is it another sick and inhumane strategy to help cochlear implant stockholders becoming rich?

Is it a hate crime what they are doing? That shows how much cochlear implant companies have control damage over our human system. And they are trying to gain even more. If the case in Germany is awarded to the doctor and force Deaf child to get implanted, then it is an alarming rate. These cochlear implant industries are harming Deaf people’s body, health, and mind. The court must recognize that the doctor is doing cochlear implant industries a favor to generalize millions in profits. Will the sound-hearing courthouse really understand what it is like being Deaf? No! The language of Audism will be heard in this courtroom. But, will it ever brought up with the term, “Audism” in the court room?

We must continue to resist against cochlear implant practices and attempting to control and monetize Deaf children for profits. When people hear or read literature about Deaf people in negative ways, with the culture of fear, many people with Surdophobia (fear of Deaf people), for example, the doctor in the case—where the parents deal with the concerns being shared about the opinions. How dare do the doctor have right to share opinions about Deaf people?

If the court goes ahead with the verdict for Dr. Andreas Gerstner, we must prepare to be the bearer of oppression, and we need to send a message—right away—that we are not going to let cochlear implant industries to become wealthiest quietly. The doctor should be billed for the entire legal cost. What happened to human rights? They feel most complete when oppressing Deaf people, only when they find the right sequence of war words can effectively bare their souls.

However, as they think without bias that Deaf people are still weak, they explore more oppression genres, they generate more hate for the ignorance exceeds oppression pursuits. What made them interested in how oppression was utilized in every day contexts, how typified thoughts were exposed to hate in professional pursuits (for example, a doctor) and how hate is invisible alongside rapidly “hearing” technologies?

One of the goals, as editor of this blog post, is to convey what we need to stand up against hate—especially at this unpleasantly tense and fractious moment in Deaf community history, when it is perfectly legal to implant a Deaf child whose parents opposed the idea? I am very curious with the verdict—and we must prepare for the exploration of collateral consequences. In that case, Dr. Andreas Gerstner should lose his license over a difference of opinion. Totally!!
